Wendy “My tone got much lighter as I lost weight”, Taeyeon “We’re singers, so singing matters more”
On April 4th, a video titled “TAEYEON Taeng-Forest EP.02 (with Wendy)” was uploaded on the “TAEYEON Official” channel.
On this day, Red Velvet’s Wendy appeared as the second guest on “Taeng-Forest”. She caught attention by saying, “It’s hard to kill two birds with one stone.”
Taeyeon asked, “Isn’t it hard to kill two birds with one stone? You have to care about the visual aspects. You also have to sing well as a main vocalist. That’s what you mean, right?“
Wendy said, “I didn’t get to take that good care of myself last time. I thought I should prepare better this time.” Taeyeon was surprised, saying, “Can you believe her for saying she didn’t take good care of herself?” Wendy confessed, “There are certain things only I can tell. It was my first time losing that much weight. So, while practicing, I’ve kept trying to keep it in balance. My tone got much lighter.“
Taeyeon empathized, “It’s lighter, right?” Wendy added, “I remember the power I had when I sang. It got lighter. It’s hard to find that pretty tone.“
Hearing this, Taeyeon explained, “It’s something I keep figuring out. It’s a natural thing. When you lose so much weight, you are bound to sound lighter. The body itself is very small. So, we don’t get what we want.“
She continued, “At this point, what could be most important to me? It’s all about making a choice. If I had to choose between the two, I’m still a singer. So, singing matters more. That’s the conclusion I came up with.“
She gave heartfelt advice, “The fans will see this, right? The fans like you back then and you now. They’re happy with whatever you have to offer. If you give your best under the given circumstances, I’m sure they like all the new songs that you release. I did a signing event for ‘To.X’. They asked me, ‘When will you release your next album?’ But I had just released ‘To.X’. That’s how much they wait for new songs. So, everyone likes however you are and are waiting for you to release songs.”
